Beaverton is the fifth largest city in Oregon. The building of the MAX light rail line has added to the commuter convenience and popularity of this West Portland suburb. Retail and residential projects have sprung up along the MAX line.
The area just west of Highway 217 along Canyon Road and the Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway is the heart of old downtown, nearly unrecognizable today with the growth and newer businesses.
In December 2004, the City of Beaverton announced that they would annex the unincorporated neighborhoods of Cedar Hills, West Slope, Raleigh Hills and Garden Home over the next 10 years. It also would add the Nike and Tektronix campuses and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. After a first round of annexations, the city would add the Bethany and Cedar Mill areas and much of Aloha.
Working under state law, Washington County is in the process of transferring its urban neighborhoods and the services they require to the control of cities. City and county leaders set no timeline for these final annexations that would fill out the city. Beaverton's ultimate boundary would extend at least to Northwest Springville Road and the Multnomah County line to the north, the city of Portland to the east and the city of Tigard to the south. The boundary would follow the Beaverton School District line to the west.
Nike's 750 acre campus is located in the heart of Beaverton where sports celebrities come and go frequently. It is also the home of Tektronics, a high tech firm and one of Oregon's largest employers.
Beaverton lies seven miles west of downtown Portland in the heart of the “Silicon Forest,” the economic lifeblood of the region. Some 300 high tech companies are located there.

Cedar Hills, Oregon
Cedar Hills is located just north of Beaverton, just minutes from downtown Portland and the City of Hillsboro. It is conveniently located near the intersection of Hwy 217 and Hwy 26, close to shopping, restaurants, and other services. The name "Cedar Hills" refers to the cedar forest that grew in the area and supplied timber for a pioneer saw mill located in what is now Cedar Mill, just north of Cedar Hills. Cedar Hills is in the respected Beaverton school district and has beautiful parks and recreational facilities. Several bus lines and two light rail stations are within walking distance from many area homes. The Homes Association owns and operates a RV storage facility adjacent to the community. This provides owners with the opportunity to store prohibited vehicles at below market rate rents.
The first homes Cedar Hills were developed between 1946 and 1970. Original hardwood floors and built-in shelves provide charm and beauty in many of the residences. Originally located in unincorporated Washington County, part of the neighborhood has since been annexed by the city of Beaverton, and in a plan agreed to by the county and Beaverton, the remainder is scheduled for annexation by 2010.
