Oregon SAT scores (verbal and math) are higher than the national average. Oregon still ranks second in the nation for states with 50% or more participation on the SAT. Washington state outperformed Oregon by 6 points on the math section and 6 points on the verbal section.

Oregon public schools are annually evaluated and the Department of Education assigns performance "report cards" to each one. Oregon law mandates this system and the state legislatures set the rules and measurement criteria. School ratings reflect student performance, student behavior, and school characteristics.
