Portland Rose Garden

Within a five minute drive of downtown is Washington Park. Make certain you visit the International Rose Garden and if you love gardens, also the Japanese Garden. Located in the same general area is the Oregon Zoo, Forestry Center, and Children's Museum. Take a hike in the Washington Park Hoyt Arboretum and enjoy trees from all over the world. You can take bus number 63 from downtown to Washington Park - a shuttle bus operates in the summer between the gardens and zoo area.

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is located downtown on the east side of the Willamette River. Five exhibit halls and eight science labs offer 219,000 square feet of interactive exhibits and hands-on demonstrations. OMSI features a big screen OMNIMAX® Theater, the Northwest's largest planetarium, and the USS Blueback, the last fast-attack, diesel-powered submarine built by the U.S. Navy and after serving for 31 years, the last of its kind to be decommissioned. OMSI also offers a variety of camps and classes.

The Chinese Classical Garden in northwest Portland is a beautiful place to relax and unwind in the middle of the city. View magnificent botanical gardens, and the ancient treasures of imperial China.

The Oregon Garden is the Northwest’s premier display garden. Stroll or ride the tram through this 80-acre botanical wonder in nearby Silverton, Oregon, which showcases thousands of plants in more than 20 colorful specialty gardens. Discover amazing water features, garden art, a unique display of conifers, the 400-year-old Signature Oak tree, wetlands, wildlife, a playful garden just for children and the Gordon House designed by the legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
